Wolfpack Speed tyre review
The Speed from new brand Wolfpack is aimed at XC racing, marathon and general XC riding. It's fast-rolling, tubeless ready and reasonably light, with more grip than you might expect and enough strength to withstand real-world use. It works well across a wide range of conditions – and even the price is good.
Hutchinson Touareg tyre review
The Hutchinson Touareg is a versatile gravel and adventure tyre, designed for everything from racing to adventure riding. It's a tough and grippy tyre at an attractive price – especially it's folding, tubeless ready and features Hardskin puncture protection – but it's very stiff and considerably heavier than claimed.
Alpkit Kraku titanium micro-stove review
The Alpkit Kraku is an incredibly small and light gas stove, good for cooking and ideal for hot drinks on bikepacking adventures. It easily fits inside a mug yet produces a rapid boil, though the small platform and lack of an ignitor means it's best kept for travelling light and alone.
Ritchey Outback frameset review
The Ritchey Outback is a steel-framed, carbon-forked gravel and adventure frameset designed for everything from road to bikepacking and off-road touring, with all kinds of gravel in between. Its premium steel tubes and carbon layups have all the mounts you could want, and it's a supremely comfy ride – but even though updated for 2020, it's still lacking a few modern conveniences.
Kinesis Range Adventure e-bike review
The Range Adventure from Kinesis UK is an e-bike featuring the Fazua Evation motor. Designed to be versatile and capable of adventures with a light motor and big range, it also has an easily-removable battery that allows unassisted riding. Loads of mounts and and impressive range make it an excellent bikepacker or commuter, though the front needs bigger rubber to tame the harshness.
Giro Privateer Lace shoe review
The Giro Privateer Lace shoe is an offroad shoe that mixes the shape and sole of the standard Privateer with the lace up adjustability of Giro's Empire range. Aimed at off-roading in general, it's light and a good compromise of comfort and sole stiffness.
Wolfpack MTB Cross tyre review
The Wolfpack MTB Cross is a cross-country and trail tyre with tread particularly suited to British riding. It works well on everything from forest mud to trail centre rocks, whether wet or dry, and while it's not the best at the extremes, it's a versatile year round performer. Though a little heavy for serious XC or racing, it's robust, dependable and well-priced.
Alpkit Soloist Backpacking Tent review
The Alpkit Soloist backpacking tent is a good value, reasonably lightweight tent with several features that make it a good option for bikepacking. It offers more shelter than a bivvy bag, but might not be big enough for taller riders.
Ortlieb Frame-Pack Toptube review
The Frame-Pack Toptube offers four litres of space and the high quality, fully waterproof design you expect from Ortlieb. It has lots of adjustment for fitting and makes a good option for riders looking to keep their bottle cages accessible.
Ortlieb Fork-Pack review
The Fork-Pack from Ortlieb is a bag with a unique quick release mount, and offers just over three litres of space. It's completely waterproof, very secure and comes with fittings for several different types of forks. Fitting to a suspension fork is a faff, however, and if your rigid fork lacks even a single mount you're out of luck completely.
