If you’re looking for a super lightweight jersey with unbeatable breathability, the Leatt MTB 4.0 UltraWeld Jersey might just be for you. It’s comfortable and looks pretty cool too, but the ‘race tight’ fit is pretty slim around the torso.

The MTB 4.0 UltraWeld Jersey is constructed from 'MoistureCool' wicking stretch mesh fabric, which has air channels built it. It gets welded seams at the cuff and hem, and the collar is designed to be used with (or without) one of Leatt’s neck braces.
Handily, there’s a pocket at the bottom of each sidepanel, which is a big plus if you like to ride without a pack.
Then at the elbows you get Brush Guard reinforcement pads, there to reduce snags while hammering through thick brush you were no doubt totally aiming for.
The fit is an interesting one. In terms of sleeve and torso lengths, the size medium on test is spot on. However, around the torso it fits a little tight, although that could be just be a comment on lockdown’s effect on my stomach. Either way, it’s enough to provide some motivation towards the gym. Or the trails...
The mesh fabric is incredibly breathable, but almost see-through. Yet once it’s on, there’s no embarrassing exposure, and it makes for a solid jersey when you're out in some serious heat.
For even more ventilation, you get laser-cut perforations on the chest, around the armpits, and the crooks of the elbows.
The welded cuffs and hem are very similar to those on the 100% R-Core X jersey, and the cuffs are similarly tight too – but the sleeves don’t ride up on the MTB 4.0 UltraWeld.
If you’re slim around the torso and looking for a super-airy long sleeve jersey for the summer, it’s tough to find fault with this. It’s comfortable, as breezy as it gets and – let's face it, this counts – looks pretty good too.
