External cable routing is back! Orbea's most versatile mountain bike, the Occam, gets a refresh

The Occam has made a name for itself in Orbea's mountain bike range as its most versatile trail bike, and for 2025, the brand has given it quite the overhaul. Perhaps inspired by the recent Rallon, it now gets more adjustability and more options in a bid to boost its capability and adaptability. Here's everything you need to know.

As before, the Orbea Occam is available in a smaller-travelled SL and a longer-travelled LT model, with the former being built to be lightweight, efficient, and primed for big days out in the hills. That's owing to its 140mm of suspension travel at both ends. The latter bike is then tailored for chunkier terrain with its 160mm of travel up front, with 150mm at the rear.
Both bikes usher in a heap of new features, some of which we've seen on the recently released Rallon, the brand's new downhill and enduro mountain bike. First off, there's an adjustable head angle allowing for +/- 0.75-degrees of adjustment, allowing riders of the SL and LT bikes to choose from more stable and more precise handling. Geometry adjustment is bolstered further with a flip chip found at the shock yoke, but note, the Occam SL doesn't get the flip chip.
As for the geometry itself, the Occam LT boasts a 64-degree head angle, a 440mm chainstay, and a 77-degree effective seat tube angle. A large frame has a 480mm reach, and that's all with the flip chip in its low position. The Occam SL benefits from a 65.5-degree head tube angle, a 440mm chainstay, a 78mm seat tube angle, and a 490mm reach on a large size.
Perhaps the biggest news for the Occam is that Orbea has listened to its riders, as the bike now offers internal and external cable routing options. Riders can now choose to move away from headset-routed cables in favour of an easier-to-maintain package. However, the option is still there should you prefer to clean look of internal cable routing. As before, the Occam retains its Lockr downtube storage.
Of course, with refreshed models come fresh colourways. New for the Occam are Ivory White and Nickel, Sunset Carbon View and Black, Escape Green Carbon View, and Metallic Cinnamon and Black, to name a few. There is also a selection of special options exclusive through Orbea's MyO customisation portal.
Available in both alloy and carbon constructions, prices start at £2,300 and go up to £10,000.
