More travel and a lower stack comes to the PNW Components Loam Dropper — and it comes in silver

PNW Components' Loam Dropper is one that received universal praise across the mountain biking world, owing to its reliability while being one of the first to boast adjustable travel. Fresh for 2025, the brand has taken the Loam Dropper back to the drawing board, giving it more travel, even better durability, and it now comes in a silver colourway too.

Claiming to bring the same reliability laid down by the original Loam Dropper, PNW says that the Gen 2 Loam Dropper brings that reliability 'to new highs, and lows'. As before, the post uses a sealed dual-chamber cartridge, but its internal refinements don't end there.
The Loam Dropper was amongst the first to provide travel adjustment using a neat rotatable shim that reduced the post's travel in 5mm increments. Now, that feature is still present on the second-generation dropper but it's had a little bit of a redesign.
Rather than flat edges that the brass keys butt up against, those edges have been rounded in a bit to keep that travel restriction consistent throughout the post's life. The brand has also added a pair of oversized nylon keys to the post. When combined with the 'beefier' four brass keys, we're told that this should stop any rotational play.
Moving to the exterior of the post, PNW has shaved down the midcap, removing the tapered edge of old to allow for more insertion of the dropper. Along with a redesigned saddle clamp, which is a little lower and not too dissimilar from the design found on OneUp Components' V3 Dropper Post, riders should be able to cram more travel into their bikes. And that's a great thing as the Gen 2 Loam Dropper expands on its travel options, now offering 175mm and 225mm travel options.
Adding a touch of bling to any bike, this dropper is now available in a silver colourway, but it's not a decision that has been taken all that lightly. In fact, the new silver anodisation required heaps of extra testing, and we've been told that it's just as durable as the standard black anodisation.
As for dimensions, the PNW Components Loam Dropper Gen 2 is available in 30.9, 31.6 and 34.9mm clamp diameters and with 125, 150, 175, 200, and 225mm drops. Each travel length provides 25mm of travel adjustment in 5mm increments.
If you're in the market for a fresh dropper, the Loam Dropper in black will set you back £225, and the silver version is £229.
