Riders with Fazua Ride 60-equipped e-mountain bikes will now get the KickOverrun upgrade, an automatic boost to help on technical ascents

Fazua is the latest drive system manufacturer to introduce a new firmware update for the summer. And this time, it's the Ride 60 unit that gets treated to some new upgrades. The biggest feature is the new KickOverrun tech, which essentially offers a boost of power assistance when riders need it most.

Fazua says that's most likely to be technical, steep, or rocky climbs. The update also includes automatic sensor calibration, "improved riding behaviour", and some more behind-the-scenes stuff that makes your motor work that little bit more efficiently. Let's dive into the details.
KickOverrun
A little bit like the extended boost on the new Bosch eMTB+ mode, Fazua's Kick Overrun looks to offer what the brand calls "precisely tuned bursts of power" when you need it. It's automatic, however, and works by sensing when riders might need it most rather than just for getting an edge past your mates in a sprint.
According to the brand, it will only activate in technical riding sections, and "based on specific riding patterns." We can assume that there's some machine learning going on that helps the motor identify when it needs to engage the boost.
Pascal Ketterer, the man in charge of 'Riding Behaviour' at Fazua, commented on the Overrun upgrade, saying it "adds power and flow to every climb, turning steep trails into fun challenges. With Firmware Bundle 12, the RIDE 60 drive system feels more intuitive and natural than ever—like it's part of you.”
Further upgrades
The Firmware Bundle 12 also includes updates like automatic sensor calibration, which means you theoretically don't have to worry about manually calibrating anything. Now, can we have this tech for power meters, please?
There is also an extended standby time being introduced - now up to 10 minutes, which is an increase of 5 minutes.
And finally, the techy bits that help your system perform, or what Fazua calls "robust stability enhancements." This includes features such as bug fixes and more refined power assistance delivery.
Users can download the Fazua Firmware Bundle 12 from the Fazua Toolbox 2.24 desktop software.
