Rather unsurprisingly the Mini PT30 comes with 30 tools in its impressively small package. You get 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8mm Allen keys, a 10mm Allen adaptor, a T10 Torx with a reamer, T15 and T25 Torx bits, spoke wrenches to fit all spokes, a chain hook, a chain tool, a quick link tool, Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, a tubeless plug insertion tool, a brake pad spacer and a serrated knife. There's also space to store a quick link.
All of that fits into a 7.4x4x1.9cm cage that comes with a handy neoprene sleeve. It weighs in at a dense 169g. Personally I find it a bit too weighty for pocketing, but it’s fine given the sheer amount of tools it offers.
Each Allen and Torx, bar the really little ones, are marked with their sizes, so it’s super easy to find the bit you need.
The Mini PT30 comes with a tubeless repair kit, but no plugs. It would be nice to have two or three included, but then Topeak do 10 for a fiver, so it's not a massive issue.
The tool has quite a clever design, with some of the less commonly used things featuring on the chain tool, which is removable. On it, you’ll find the quick link tool, brake pad spacer, chain hook and spoke keys. It's worth noting that the chain tool isn't compatible with Campagnolo hollow pin chains.
I won’t lie; some elements, such as the quick link tool, took me a little bit of time (ironically) to figure out. But once you figure out how everything functions, it works a charm; like the chain tool itself, the quick link tool uses the Allen section to screw into the chain link and coax it apart.
Handily, the knife and tyre insertion tool have a locking mechanism to stop any accidental slips. That knife is most definitely sharp. Also aiding safety, the knife can't be unleashed without moving the tyre plug tool out of the way first.
Apart from the slight puzzle of the thing and it not arriving with any tyre plugs, there’s not an awful lot to grumble about with the Mini PT30. True, it doesn’t offer an awful lot of leverage, but that's inevitable given its miniaturised form.
Other than that, the Topeak Mini PT30 is a complete and comprehensive multitool that has you covered for almost every situation. Just be sure to pick up some tyre plugs at the same time.
