Cushcore Trail tyre inserts review

Available in 27.5-inch, 29-inch and mixed sets, CushCore's Trail tyre inserts prove to provide excellent support, trail dampening and protection The pair may well be expensive compared to other options on the market but the performance really is second to none making them a worthy consideration among the best tyre inserts for mountain biking. Let's get down to the details.

Michelin Wild Enduro Racing Line Rear tyre review

The Michelin Wild Enduro Racing Line Rear is a non-compromise race tyre. It focuses on maximum grip and reliability with a super-sticky rubber compound and a tough multi-layer casing. The grip is ample and predictable across a range of terrains but does struggle in sticky mud where the small closely spaced blocks start to clog.

Crankbrothers Klic HV Mini Floor Pump review

The Crankbrothers Klic HV Mini Floor pump serves as a reliable backpack friend for tyre-related emergencies. With its high-volume action, large tyres can be aired up quickly but with a working range of up to ~60psi this is aimed at mountain bike and gravel duties. The magnetic quick-connect hose and multi-valve head make it quick to deploy and the pumping action is smooth requiring minimal effort.

Michelin Wild Enduro Front Racing Line tyre review

The Michelin Wild Enduro Front Racing Line tyre offers ultimate levels of grip with a super-tough casing and excellent trail-dampening qualities. The super-sticky compound inspires confidence with predictable grip but does come at the cost of longevity and rolling resistance. The weight is also noticeable but as far as front grip goes, the predictability makes it one of the best mountain bike tyres around.

7Mesh CoPilot Jacket review

The 7Mesh CoPilot jacket is a high-end trail riding jacket which provides waterproofing and breathability in equal amounts. Made from GoreTex Paclite Plus, the lightweight and minimalist jacket has a relaxed fit for maximum comfort out on the trails and includes a hood large enough to fit over a helmet.

Altura Ridge Thermal Waterproof Trouser review

Altura’s Ridge thermal waterproof trouser is a deep-winter, sub-zero offering that aims to keep you warm and dry in some pretty harsh mountain bike conditions. The Polartec fleece lining provides a great balance of warmth and comfort and the soft-shell fabric proves to be waterproof even with a worn DWR coating. The fit is on the slim side and the size guide is not accurate so try before you buy.

Pro Starter Toolkit review

The Pro Starter toolkit is aimed as the first tool kit for the home mechanic, comprising a range of key tools for bike repairs and maintenance. While it represents a good quality set of tools in a compact carry case it does lack a couple of essential items. Read on for the verdict.

Fizik Terra NANUQ X2 GTX waterproof shoes review

The Fizik Terra Nanuq GTX is a mountain bike shoe aimed at deep winter riding, the colder and wetter the better. With a waterproof Gore-Tex liner and insulated upper, these shoes make winter riding a little more bearable. Combined with Boa retention, a grippy Vibram sole and plenty of cleat adjustment, Fizik offers a well-thought-out shoe for winter bog bashing and sub-zero conditions.

Magicshine Monteer 6500S V2.0 front light review

The Magicshine Monteer 6500S mountain bike light sits between the 8000S and the lesser-powered 3500S. With an output of 6,500 lumens, it offers a great balance of power and definition when lighting up the trails. Thanks to the five LEDs, its ability to light up the trail as well as illuminate further ahead makes this one of the best mountain bike lights. Along with the excellent battery life and study bar mount, this is a well-thought-out package.

Altura Esker Dune men's insulated jacket review

The Altura Esker Dune insulated jacket uses a mix of insulated panels and softshell material to create a warm and non-restrictive mountain bike jacket. The windproof and warmth properties prove to be excellent for cold winter conditions although the jacket's water-resistant properties are only good enough to fend off light showers.
