New YT Industries Decoy e-MTB ditches Shimano in favour of Bosch power

Only last week, YT Industries announced self-administration, admitting that it's seeking new investment. But despite that, the brand is still plugging away and working on new things. One of those is the updated Decoy, which packs big suspension travel and makes the shift to Bosch power for 2025.

Living up to its namesake, the YT Industries Decoys of old were about hiding in plain sight, as it's an e-MTB that's designed to hide its pedal-assist capabilities — whether or not the brand succeeded is up to you. However, the latest Decoy throws that idea out the window, wearing its heavy-hitting, big-power intentions on its sleeve.
Unlike the previous generation Decoy, the new bike forgoes a more trail-friendly model as this time around, it dives into big travel and gravity-focused riding. The new Decoy boasts 180mm of suspension at the front, paired with 170mm at the rear, and importantly, it makes the change to Bosch as it runs the brand's Performance Line CX motor.
With that, it benefits from the recent Bosch update package, granting the bike 100Nm of torque and 750W at peak power. It gets a sizey battery too, with an 800Wh capacity. On top of that, the Decoy dons Bosch's latest Kiox 400c display, which brings full colour stats to a two-inch screen that sits neatly on the bike's top tube.
Elsewhere, the YT has gone in-house with the design of the Decoy's charging port to boost protection against the elements, and there's a custom battery mount complete with a special bushing system to keep the battery from rattling. Additionally, YT has designed its own skidplate to protect the motor and provide airflow to keep it cool.
With its more gravity intentions, the Decoy has had some tweaks to its geometry. Now, it features a taller stack, lower bottom bracket, and a longer reach. Its seat tubes are 'significantly' shorter, too, says the brand. A large frame in its low position (yep, there's a flip chip) gets a 469mm reach, a 63.5-degree head tube angle, a 77.6-degree effective seat tube angle, and a 447mm chainstay. With the flip chip in its regular position, the angles steepen by half a degree and the reach grows to 475mm.
YT Industries has also paid attention to the suspension kinematic, revising it with an anti-squat that sits just below 100% in a bid to improve traction under braking as well as reducing pedal kickback. That 170mm of rear suspension is then damped by a 230x65mm shock.
Straight out of the gates, the Decoy is available in four models with the range-topping Core 4 getting Fox's Factory 38 fork and Float X2 shock as well as a wired-in SRAM X0 T-Type drivetrain. The Core 3 build features Ohlins suspension and SRAM's S1000 T-Type shifting, whereas the Core 2 bike gets RockShox Select+ bouncers and a cable-actuated SRAM T-Type drivetrain. The Core 1 acts as the entry into the new Decoy range, offering Marzocchi suspension and Shimano Deore shifting.
Prices start at £6,000 and go up to £9,000.
